Alpha-Amylase-1 is not included because it was listed as being overexpressed in older muscle in the online tables but was listed as being underexpressed in older muscle in the paper of Lee et al. (15).

As reported elsewhere (29), older muscle had less type 2a myosin heavy chain than young, but the amount of type 1 was not affected by aging. The Affymetrix data for this transcript do not appear to be meaningful because of the very high levels of other myosin isoforms, which cause very high nonspecific hybridization and a negative score for abundance even in the sample with higher abundance.
